Collection: Colour-painting-on-paper

Colour-painting-on-paper is a common technique in Chinese art, referring to the application of coloured pigments on a paper substrate. Because of paper’s fibrous structure and strong absorbency, water and pigments can create varied blending effects, displaying pronounced ink flow and layered colours. Compared to pure ink painting, colour-painting-on-paper places a stronger emphasis on colour usage, resulting in a richer visual impact. However, paper is more susceptible to humidity and environmental factors, necessitating extra caution in its preservation.
